Three of Cups Club
Three of Cups Club is an artist collective instigated by artist Mel Brady with members residing across the Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions. There are 13 core members of the group with other members who join the group on an ad hoc basis. The inspiration for the group is drawn from the Three of Cups tarot card, signifying friendship, collaboration and a group of like-minded people working together on a shared passion. ToCs gather on a monthly basis. The group consists of women artists working in textile art, graphic design, 2D and 3D, conceptual, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work. The group is inclusive, with emerging to established artists’ ages spanning 4 decades and identifying as queer, regional, living with disability and neurodiverse.
Since the inaugural meeting in February 2024, the Three of Cups club has met monthly at locations across the City of Moreton Bay region, in cafes, museum and art galleries, as well as in the art studios of members. The club has welcomed established artists and arts professionals from Brisbane and Moreton Bay regions as guest speakers with the goal of fostering further connections within the arts community and expanding creative skills and knowledge. Building skills within the club has also been an important focus, with meetups usually having a set agenda such as sharing data management, business and book-keeping tips, public speaking tips, and art practice specifics such as varnishing or framing. Having access to group critique sessions with a gallery curator have benefitted club members in developing and writing about their work, and the ongoing relationship with a curator at a private gallery may offer future opportunities for club members.
In 2026 TOCs exhibited at The Old Fire Station Gallery in their first group show – Trove.
